A study by the African Development Bank found that the number of gig workers in Africa is expected to double by 2030. The study also found that gig workers in Africa are more likely to be young, male, and have a lower level of education than other workers.

The average monthly income for a gig worker in Africa is $200. Lack of access to health insurance: Only 20% of gig workers in Africa have health insurance.

Help us advocate through our campaign "+Shield" for mitigating substantial medical care and health insurance cost for Gig workers.

The stories shared by gig workers in the comments reveal a profound vulnerability that goes beyond the data. I am currently working to translate these personal accounts into a formal proposal for policy makers to review. Your contributions highlight why this shift in insurance access is not merely an economic concern but a fundamental necessity for thousands of people.

Reaching this milestone confirms that the insecurity facing gig workers resonates far beyond my own initial concerns. It is encouraging to see this many people acknowledge the immediate necessity of affordable health access for those who form the backbone of our growing economy.

Finally someone is talking about this. Being a gig worker is so hard and one sickness can ruin your whole family.
