Give Prince a Star NOW! - Sign Our Petition and Share

A few comments by fans are that Prince turned down the Walk of Fame Award and that he wanted no part of it... Well that simply is a gross misinterpretation of his intent. What's best catagorized is his opposition to the stipulations that was present when the award was offered. One was that the Artist pay for it which was and is close to $30,000. This of course he could afford, but his religion convictions forbid him to indulge in self aggrandizement which is another reason he didn't sign autographs. And two the Walk required artist recieving the star to sign contracts agreeing to appear at the ceremonies. It's well known after Prince's Warner Bros feud he stopped signing contracts - which may also explain why he may not have had a will. Prince wasn't opposed to this award then and surely not now, but only the conditions to which were associated with it at the time it was presented to him. He accepted many awards throught his life, an Oscar, multiple Grammys and AMA's just to name a few. In comparison, he was well aware of and accepted the Star on the Wall of Fame granted to him at First Avenue Club in Minneapolis - which unlike the Walk star, didn't require him to personally sponsor or contractually obligate himself too. The idea of his Fan's wanting to bestow recognition on such a great talent - in the case of this petition and drive - isn't to take away or contradict his wishes, but rather to reaffirm his place among some of the greatest artists of our time.... This is OUR CAUSE, for our recognition that Prince is indeed - and yes needs - A Star!

I read some where he didn't want a star. Not sure how true that is. But I think he should have a star.

Prince has left a huge impact on many people. As a person he was an American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, record producer, humanitarian, as well as many other accomplishments. His legacy and music will reign forever. Prince deserves a purple star on the walk fame.

Prince so deserves this. He is a musician that is unequaled. He has more talent then probably anyone else there. He is loved by so many of us and i think he should be acknowledged and shown the respect he deserves. Please give our Purple Prince a star. thank u.

I have been a fan of Prince and his music for along time a talented musician, entertainer, artist, song writer to me he is all that also he as inspired us his fans around the world with his passion for music and what it means we miss him so much and love him so he deserves a star with his name on it.

Prince was a unique, magical performer on stage. No one will ever compare. He is so well deserving of a purple glittering star. RIP our sweet Prince.

Prince was the master of all instruments, producer, arranger, song writer, choreographer, you name it he mastered it. He deserves his star.
