My kids have had this issue before. It's not health to either have not enough time to eat or stuff their faces under the pressure of time

When I was in school our lunch was an hour. Time to eat and time to play. What ever happened to that. I would think as a teacher they would be all for this as well.

I will do that! If you're concerned about this with your child's school you can take steps now to address it. I would start by having your child take note of when they sit down to eat, and when they are asked to clean up to go. Keep track of dates and times if you can.

My kids go to Clear Lake Elementary and I also think their lunch is too short! Lunch should be before recess so kids have a choice to take more time at lunch if need be and it just cuts a little into their recess.

Had the same problem at Mt View Elementary in White Center. Kids shouldn't be rushed to eat, but rather taught to savor and enjoy their food.

My HS student skips lunch because he said by the time he gets through the line he has no time to eat.
My 6th grader complains he's hungry due to not having enough time to eat.
My kindergartener comes home with a couple bites taken from her food because they say it's time to go. ( her words)

I have a 1st grader at Big Lake Elementary, we LOVE this school, have no complaints really, BUT our child HAS came to us multiple times asking for a lunch box because IF she gets hot lunch she has NO time to eat it.

I feel that if the law says we are required to have a 30 minute lunch for our jobs, then our children should have at LEAST a 30 minute lunch in school. 10 minutes is a ridiculously short amount of time to expect kids (or even many adults) to eat their lunch.

Ten minutes is ridiculous to expect anyone to be able to eat lunch. Kids need at least a half an hour to an hour.

Time management skills are important, and taking away lunch and recess time is the easy way out. If the school day isn't progressing as the administrators intended, it needs to be their job to fix that problem. Rushing my kids through lunch and taking away recess is not acceptable. Figure out what the problem is and fix it.
