The guides are the eyes and ears of this great state of Maine.
All guides and anglers who go to Maine streams, rivers, and lakes should “do their part to protect themselves, their families, and others to prevent the spread of the virus,” Getting outside and fishing can be good for physical and mental health, but “we must remain consistent with social distancing guidelines. The guides will do their part in keeping their clients, themselves and the environment safe and protected as they have been entrusted to do so.

We, outfitters simply can’t survive if we are not allowed income. 95%of income comes from non residents. With the 14 day quarantine, it makes it impossible to even do business. Say good bye to 99% of the the outfitters if it is not lifted.

Allowing guides to operate while preventing clients from being guided by them is a zero sum situation. Continuing restrictions already in place through the height of Maine's ecotourism and sporting seasons will cause massive financial burdens and disruptions for years to come -especially so for those who work full time as guides and sporting camp operators. We put in long hours during short seasons to make our living. If these restrictions aren't lifted to allow us to work and support our families and the small business that rely on sporting and tourism revenues, we will soon be left bankrupt and saying..."Maine, The Way Life Used To Be." - John Floyd, Registered Maine Fishing, Hunting & Recreation Guide

I agree with lifting the ban, almost all my clients are from out of state, a lot with all the other guides in Maine, Maine will take a massive hit if we all go out of business.

This needs to be lifted. 1-5 clients coming in from out of state, going directly to the guide or lodge for a few days then going home is not a high risk in my opinion. They don't have to go to the grocery store, restaurants etc. They stop for gas at pay at the pump and keep moving. We as guides can implement safety precautions while they are with us.
