Give back the alcohol licence to Raj’s Place

This family has been running this shop since I’ve known. They are good people and well known in the community. They are highly responsible business people as well as good friends to many. They deserve to keep their family name/business going.

They had the salvation centre already nearby and the off licence was open at the time. It makes zero sense .

I seen a news article based on this and theynstated the reason they did not wish to give them the license was due to them help rehibilitate alcoholics however when I went into the website for this particular life house it clearly states under the section Who we cannot help? "Individuals presenting a significant risk to themselves or others" now to me that would include alcoholics. This petition has my full support good luck!

For as long as I can remember (30 years +) both the Salvation centre have Off licence have operated without issue. Can't see what the problem is now. The council are preventing a hard working family from earning a crust and providing a service to the community. Licence should be issued.

The council, police and Salvation Army should be working with the community - that includes local families and businesses!

Not only did the council allow this building almost opposite an off licence but it also backed on to a thriving pub double standards here councillors tut tut

Give them the license they always had

Unfair, allow them a license to sell alcohol. Support small businesses

There are so many off licences in Coventry. If people want to consume alcohol they will find it regardless of the location.

A well argued case. It feels unfair. The hostel staff need to encourage their residents to exercise individual responsibility rather than stop businesses conducting lawful activity.

It would appear that a hardworking family are being penalised and the local community are loosing out as a result.

I really think we would benifit from this shop because at the moment I have to walk further down the road and with my MS it’s very difficult so if Raj place is isssued with a licence I wouldn’t have to catch a taxi which for me is very expensive . I used to shoo at this shop 20years ago and never seen any trouble or heard of any trouble

This shop has been the centre of this community for over 30 years and cannot believe this diabolical decision. I have been coming to this shop for over 20 years now and this decision will effect the local community considerably. I do not have a car and now risk walking to another shop late at night, thank you Coventry council!

The business has been a pillar of the community since opening. It seems a shame, that due to technicalities of a salvation army housing centre which was built during a period of when the business was trading is a kick in the teeth. This meant that all parties involved in locating the centre thought that the misuse of drugs, in this case alchohol was not an issue. Despite the business not having been trading, there is signs of anti social behaviour in the area. I strongly believe the business opening and being allowed to trade, without any sanctions, would not only increase sense of community in the area, meaning that people would of have means of belonging.

Av is a hard working individual who will always look after his customers, there is family Is part of the history
