While I appreciate the board’s wish to be inclusive, I believe by making these changes, they have failed in the mission of the school.

The message of single sex education and where HH stands was not clearly communicated. Biological girls that also identify as female should be the message as has been stated at many other single sex schools around the US

It is unnecessary to spend money on a dedicated DEI position, no matter who holds it. This could be done on a consultation basis. There is ample intellectual power in the faculty and parent community to manage this. Parents should be part of any discussion or decision, which I take it they have not been given this new policy/philosophy.

Is NO ONE even slightly bothered that the diversity and inclusivity czar is a male at an ALL girls school (at least currently) Way to go HH, that really empowers females to have one more male telling them what to support and believe. NO MORE annual giving from me.

My 2 daughters graduated in 97 &99 When You take Faith & God - out of curriculum or Young life activities-you make decision you did not have to make ? you chose woke over common sense where will you go next ? I don’t know if you know it but men can get pregnant too ? concerned alumni parent Jerry Verner

As said in my personal email to Jess Hill on 8/12/2022 this decision has changed the all girls school ( people born with ovaries and a uterus) to a unisex school negating the mission of the school! We chose single sex school for our daughters because of the benefits of the all girls learning environment created by HH. We , the loyal HH community, entrusted our daughters education which has proven to give females a leg up in society and were planning, hoping to continue the education for our grand daughters in years to come. This decision completely changes the school’s dedication to all girls ( those born with ovaries and a uterus) in the future. We want to protect the educational gender needs of all girls past, present and future! Your decision, that we understand you have implemented, has already changed the school’s focus on girls forever. Once a brand changes it’s mission even slightly the outcome shifts significantly! Your message to young biological women is that you no longer recognize them as a gender with different educational needs. Instead you plan on serving all will and has changed many other future decisions that will be made. This decision will attract new students that fall into your new target population. This woke approach will seem in sync with society today but will open the door for an unintended outcome for tomorrow!

As an alumnus of Harpeth Hall class of 1969, I was extremely disappointed to read that admissions were opened to those “not female by birth”. Please add my name to those who oppose this policy.

as a concerned citizen and sister and friend to many alumnus of this wonderful school that is held in high regard in the community and the country I would like to sign this petition! I have suggested this school to many friends who were looking for a well rounded education for their daughters without the stresses that come in a coeducational environment. I am now a grandmother of a granddaughter myself and although she is only 5- i had hoped that she too would possibly look into HH as a fifth grader. thank you. good luck with this petition!!!

I’m no lawyer, but I wonder if there’s an ulterior motive, to make it more difficult for the few attending girls who identify as boys. So HH might be thinking “avoid litigation” so we must accept boys who ID as girls. And that’s why I like the petition’s wording: girls who are born girls and who ID as girls.
