When Gil retired he led all right handed hitters in the National League in homers. He was an all star first baseman. He singlehandedly brought the 1955 World Series to Brooklyn with the only 2 RBI's scored in game 7.What Brooklyn Dodger fan can forget that scoop up of Pee Wee's throw for the final out of game 7.He was a marine and a born leader as witness his managing of the Mets in 1969. His unjustified exclusion from the Hall must be righted while his wife Joan is still alive.

Gil led the National League in homers as a righthanded hitter when he retired. He was a gifted power hitter and fielder and was the star first baseman of his generation. He was a marine and a natural born leader as wittness his management of the 1969 Mets. Gil should have been voted in years ago. Let's correct this oversight while Gil's wife Joan is stioo alive to see it happen.
