Gil Hodges: I feel honored and spe that madecial to have known him. He is a man that exhibited virtues him a special,human being and baseball skills and performance as a player and manager that are part of a record that clearly indicates his HOF worthinesss. Added to that, Gil's service to his country and his integrity extraordinary in everything he did. I once asked Pee Wee Reese who i use to caddy for at Dyker Beach G.C. in Brooklyn wand human qualities made Gil very ,very special andho he considered on of the best all-around players in his time,and without hesitation he answered,Gil Hodges. In the Sacred Hall of Fame with all its signing stars,no star would shine more brightly that of Gil Hodges who earned his place in the HOF with integrity ,knowledge, and performance, that in my opinion, deserves the ultimate reward for great performance as a player and manager in the great game of baseball, the Hall of Fame.

Based upon performance as measured against his time and peers combined with his impeachable character make him hall worthy. It is overdue.

Gil Hodges belongs in the HOF. His offensive statics are comparable or better than some of the 1B that have been elected from later decades. He is a multiple gold glove winner also. To say that he shouldn't be there because too many teammates or NY players from his era are already in is simply idiotic when you consider that there were 3 teams based in NY in his era.
I've been fighting this battle for years.
