There is no excuse for Gil not to be in the HOF. As a player, or a manager, Gil was an inspiration and an icon. Furthermore, as a World War II Marine, he deserves our respect and thanks.

Gil Hodges, wow what a truly well balanced, all around sports-hero! It really does not add up; why a special person dedicated to baseball; like Gil Hodges is not in Cooperstown (MLBH.)

gil was the greatest righthanded first baseman who ever lived,and defense was especially important to the fabulous brooklyn clubs of the 'post war era.his prowess at the plate,his ability to break up any game with one swing,does not require any more comment-he was truly,"the cat who carried a cannon."
