A natural leader and a tremendously important cog on those great Dodger teams of the 50's. He was one of the finest defensive first basemen of his day and by his leadership he was able to change the fortunes of such weak franchises as the senators and Mets. Had he not dies so prematurely, he would already be in on his managerial skills alone.

Gil Hodges' playing ability rivals anyone else who has ever played the game. He is long overdue for the honor of a place in the Hall of Fame. He set records, some of which still stand today. What more do you need?
