Save Putnam Place
Residents of the City of Saratoga Springs, request that the Open Space Advisory Committee designate the following parcels located in the City of Saratoga Springs as suitable and beneficial Open Space Areas worthy of acquisition:
1 Morgan St., Saratoga County Tax Map parcel 165-1-37.1
55 Myrtle St. Saratoga County Tax Map parcel 165-1-37.2
These two parcels are what is left of the ancestral home of Gideon Putnam, the founder and builder of our City. Putnam Place, formerly known as Prospect Hill, was formerly occupied by six generations of the Putnam family extending back to the log cabin days from 1793. The view shed from this property is arguably the most beautiful in all the City, and the beauty and history of Prospect Hill has been well documented as part of our City's rich history.
We, the undersigned, believe this open space should be preserved for the enjoyment of current and future generations, for all Saratogians to be able to both learn about an important historical site as well as our first family.
