Dear Senator Sessions, Recently, the U.S. Senate in a bipartisan effort voted 75-22 to make public education more affordable for veterans at in-state universities. This is a step towards honoring the troops that put their lives on the line. Sen. Richard Shelby voted in favor of this bill, while you opposed this important piece of legislation that is favored by Veterans Organizations. I disagree with your contention that supporting increased educational benefits for veterans would cause retention problems. Supporting our troops means more than photos opportunities and lip service speeches. A strong GI Bill will enhance military recruitment and encourage our troops that they can receive a quality education. We are close to signing an important piece of legislation and we urge you to ask the President not to veto this bill. Signed by Your Name Phone Number

Vivian Davis Figures is running for the United States Senate to be a voice for all citizens of the State of Alabama. Jeff Sessions continues to prove that he is incapable of representing anyone besides special interests. Jeff Sessions says he supports the troops; however, he voted against the GI Bill along with 22 other Republican Senators. He has one last opportunity to do the right thing and encourage the President to sign this piece of legislation. This Bill would encourage military recruitment efforts and provide a boost to our economy. Sessions is wrong when he says this Bill would hurt retention rates. We ask that you sign this petition that urges Senator Sessions to reconsider his position and support the GI Bill. Sessions has a history of voting against what is in the best interest of our veterans. It is time he does the right thing and supports our troops. Our veterans deserve the benefits they have been promised. Our country owes much of our success to the original GI Bill and we should offer our current troops the same opportunities. Peace and Blessings Figures for Senate 2008
