Hello to all active duty military, veterans, reservists, retirees and civilian citizens that appreciate our armed forces, I am a proud veteran of the US Marine Corps. I served from 1993 to 1997 and do not regret serving my country one bit. This e-mail is being sent as a petition to forward to Washington to push forward two bills that are now stalled in Washington that make the G.I. Bill a lifetime benefit. If you agree please add your name below and forward to others you know who would support this worthy cause. And remember this is not just for me it is for all who have served and will serve someday. If you need some more information to make your decision please read below and then decide. Either way thank you for taking time to consider. I recently have had the luxury of some extra time and decided that going to college would be a good use of this time. No problem (so I thought), I would fill out the necassary paperwork, claim my GI bill benefits(which myself and most other service members paid for) and enroll. I was denied benefits due to the fact it had been more than 10 years since my last date of active duty. In my research I found two disturbing things. 1. Education benefits to those serving after 9/10/2001 had been increased and extended from 10 to 15 years. Why do I find this disturbing I support all members of all services who have served in this troubled time but is their service worth more than those who served before Myself and many others(check the responses at this site http://www.washingtonwatch.com/bills/show/110_SN_1261.html ) do not agree with this logic. If not for our service would this great nation still be here 2. Two bills have been put before congress; H.R. 2247, The Montgomery G.I. Bill for life Act of 2007(http://www.washingtonwatch.com/bills/show/110_HR_2247.html) and S. 1261, The Montgomery G.I. Bill for life Act of 2007 (http://www.washingtonwatch.com/bills/show/110_SN_1261.html) Both of which can be checked at these sites and you will see are stalled in Washington. My question is, why If you support this as a "benefit for life" please add your name to the petition and then forward to other people that you know who would support this
