This petition is to get Sgt. Tanner White, USMC, and Steve Grand on the ELLEN Show!!!
Tanner White is a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps who is out as both gay and HIV Positive. A few months ago, Tanner gained cyber fame by asking singer Steve Grand, who is also a gay man, to the US Marine Corps Ball. The day after the YouTube video went viral, Steve made a video of his own accepting the invitation to the November event, thrilling the hundreds of thousands of well wishers and supporters.
I am putting this petition up today to gain signatures to have both Tanner and Steve on the ELLEN show with Ellen DeGeneres to speak about their lives and the events that brought them to where they are today. Sgt. White is a role model for not just the LGBT or HIV+ communities but for the world. He has faced many difficult situations and braved through them all while serving his country with honor and dedication. Sgt. White was also able to re-enlist in the Marine Corps just hours before the USMC Ball. Mr. Grand is referred to as the first openly gay male country singer who shot to fame after his July 2013 song "All-American Boy" went viral. He was named one of Out Magazine's "Out 100" and Instinct Magazine's "Leading Men" lists in 2013. Both men are activists for LGBT Rights and raise money for several charities. Sgt. White, along with his USMC duties, is the Executive Director of "A Positive Tomorrow" while Mr. Grand has worked with GLSEN, HRC, and WorldPride in Toronto Canada..

The momentum behind this request is starting to feel undeniable even on the days when the emails go unanswered. It has been a long road and I am drained but seeing this level of interest keeps me moving forward.

They would make perfect guests, both good role models, we have all had struggles and suffered loss, bad love affairs, My partner died aged just 41 25 years ago from HIV/Aids I was just 29 years of age I never expected at that age arranging the love of my life's funeral, what made things difficult was I was HIV Negative, and nobody knew why he was ill, everyone thought it was cancer, it's hell keeping a big secret, you feel so alone, the world was very different then, HIV was taboo. Anyone who can be a positive role model is good news, many people in the world face problems similar alone.
I got to meet Steve Grand this weekend here in Louisville, KY for our PRIDE Festival! He is such an amazing, remarkable young man, who's also a great singer, songwriter, producer, and person! I really hope you get all the signatures you need!! This NEEDS to happen! #Ellen #EllenShow make this happen!! <3 to both of you guys!! Steve! Come back to Louisville, KY again soon buddy! Hugs!!
This opportunity would speak volumes in helping eradicate the fears and rejection experienced WITHIN the gay community!
