Catherine has been in Cork University Hospital for approaching five years now suffering from a condition called Locked In Syndrome. Over a year ago provisions were made to bring Catherine home, hospital officials had agreed to Catherine's Discharge and agreed that she could be cared for at home (we have a letter to show this) a bungalow was purchased by the Department of the Environment and a €330,000 extension with fully fitted bedroom and wet room is nearing completion (1 week or so left) in our parents home in Carrigaline, Co. Cork.
However, now the HSE are refusing to allow Catherine home to her loving family who are more than capable of looking after and caring for this wonderful and strong girl.
Why would the government, if they are so stuck for money spend this amount on Catherine's home, but then want her to remain in hospital or a "Step Down Facility" as they call it.
Its costing the HSE and Government roughly €1Million to keep Catherine in Hospital per year, this can be considerably dropped to under €300,000 per year if Catherine returns home with nursing care!
Please once again show your support and help by signing this petition and we can get it sent to the Government and Minister for Health.
Father Pat, is since threatening to go on hunger strike, not long after suffering a massive heart attack, and fears for his health have prompted drastic action and this petition,

Seeing 500 names beside Catherine's fight hits home in a way I cannot quite put into words. It gives our family such a boost to know so many people see the injustice of her staying in that hospital room when she belongs here with us.

Seeing the momentum pick up gives my family so much hope as we fight to bring Catherine back under our roof. We need a final surge to hit our next goal so that the Minister sees exactly how many people demand her return home.

bring catherine home now. she deserves to be with her family not stuck in a cold hospital room.
One million a year to keep her there?? That is our tax money being wasted while a family suffers. Ridiculous.
This is absolutely heartbreaking. Catherine belongs with her family where she is loved and cared for properly. Let her come home!
Absolutely insane. Why drag this out when the solution is right there? Shame on the government.
