This is a petition to do away with the Chase for the Sprint Cup. The Chade for the Sprint Cup is not fair to the drivers. Nascar's argument is that it makes it more exciting. If they listened to their fan base, they would see that fans overwhelmingly do not like or support the chase, and the overwhelming majority support going back to the original points system. The points system for 2014 is the worst yet. The idea of a driver's entire 2014 season hinging on 1 race (the final race), is not exciting. It doesn't make me sit on the edge of my seat in anticipation. It's sad to see that the rest of the season doesn't matter at all, just that it hinges off of one race. Also, with the elimination system, one flat tire and your 2014 season could be over. That's not fair. A driver could theoretically win the first 35 races and have a tire go down in the last race and lose the championship. That's not fair, and it certainly isn't exciting. The Chase robs the drivers most deserving of championships from winning, and does nothing to make NASCAR better for the fans. We (every one of us who have signed this petition) respectfully ask that you remove the Chase and go back to the old points system that we all love, the one from when the legends raced. The same system Petty, Earnhardt, and Gordon all won under.
