Dear Mr. Ricketts As a life long Cubs fan, I believe I am speaking for the majority of Cubs fans everywhere when I tell you that the tradition of "Go Cubs Go" being played after every home win is one of the few things wrong with the atmosphere of Wrigley Field. Believe me. I am in someways a major proponent of tradition. I love the ivy, neighborhood feeling, and many other things of Wrigley. I, like many Cubs fans, was thrilled when I found that the plan for the giant video scoreboard in left was not going to be replacing the old wooden one in center. However, with the slew of renovations coming to Wrigley in the near future, one thing remains that will continue to have the most negative impact. The song "Go Cubs Go". First, the song can't even be considered a tradition. Having become first popular during the exciting 1984 campaign, it has only again become popular in recent memory, specifically during our 2007 and 2008 seasons in which we won the division. Although it might have been cute at first, I as well as many other Cubs fans have grown sick of the song. I believe this claim is justly supported by the poll that our very own 670 the Score conducted in 2013. Titled as the "Tournament of Bad", our song "Go Cubs Go" saw victories over subjects such as "Lance Armstrong" and "Dating Oscar Pistorius" as it claimed a spot in the finale. In a year where the Paterno scandal was still running strong, it took that, "The Paterno Family", to keep our so called anthem from taking home the trophy in the "Tournament of Bad". The answer is clear, us Cubs fans do not like the song. The truth is that it is embarrassing and only contributes to a stereotype that us Cubs fans are trying to stay away from. I know how hard you are working to improve the environment of Wrigley Field, but this could be your biggest step. Please consider this opportunity and good luck with the rest of your tenure. On behalf of Cubs nation, Braden Conway
