Get Rid of Downtown Charlottesville Parking Meters

As someone who has had a small business near Downtown and is very invested in the economic health and enjoyment of Downtown, these parking meters are a discouragement and an impediment.

Please get rid of these parking meters. Negative vibe all the way around.

Parking should be free downtown to help the downtown businesses.

Please keep downtown parking free and affordable. Please look at what Santa Barbara, CA does - it would work well here. but please make downtown easily accessible-parking meters are a hindrance

This is even more important now that spaces at Water St garage will be reserved for hotel use.

Surely the meters were put in place as an attempt to do good, but it seems the hindrance they are creating is outweighing any intended benefits. Please let’s keep downtown as easily accessible as possible by removing the parking meters. Thank you!

I am concerned for the future of our downtown neighbors and businesses. Please remove these parking meters.

It has been a huge deterrent to my family. We go to the Dntn. Mall much less often and the only reason is the meters.

Myself and my family have stopped coming downtown because it's just too hard to find parking.

Please remove the meters. They are too difficult to use and make it unreasonably hard to patronize businesses on the mall.

Wasteful, installed without public input, competitive bids, or even much thought. Negatively impacts downtown visitors, merchants and business people like me.

I find that the meters inhibit my desire to come downtown.

I think the more significant issue to address is to provide cheap, easy, accessible parking for employees working downtown. If they have their parking needs met, it will free up parking for locals and visitors.

The meters discourage parking near downtown and make it extremely difficult for anyone who works downtown and gets off late at night to find safe parking.

We used to go downtown for spur of the moment gelato treats or to dinner. Knowing that we have to pay more to park has decreased how often we go which means it has also decreased how much we spend at local merchants.

The meters discourage business downtown and are very inconvenient to customers, citizens, poor folk, elderly. It has made me not run errands downtown because of the inconvenience. Or have to park far away, when there would have been plenty of spaces available otherwise. I have friends and colleagues with businesses on the mall and they also dislike the meters for the same reasons. The 2 hour parking was working fine! Please collect money a different way. Thank you!
