CK continues to spew out his inanities and inaccuracies. A wannabe comedian who is simply not very funny at all.
It’s not good enough that when CK ‘commentates’ I’m compromised into listening to the Dutch narration. I don’t understand a word but it sounds better.
I can’t be bothered to justify my complaint further. The exhilarating and sophisticated modern world of professional cycling is not the place for such anachronous crap. Just go, CK.

Carlton Kirby is the worst cycling commentator that I have ever heard. I have to turn the sound off....he is now nails on a chalkboard to me.

A good commentator gets out of the way of the subject. Kirby constantly draws attention to himself. He stands between me and the cycling.

I have complained a number of times to Eurosport directly for inappropriate and insensitive comments made by their cycling commentator Carlton Kirby over the years. If you are not from the UK or an English speaking rider, you are a target of Mr Kirby’s, particularly if you are French. The cruel point to this is that each put down he delivers, he knows what he is saying and the intent behind it yet he pursues the line knowing the audience can hear him say it. We are “his” audience & he can & does say whatever he likes, much of what he does say is utter drivel, unrelated to the race and always includes inane chatter followed by an equally inane laugh. A flip comment on Stage 3 of the recent Dauphine race when he remarked that upon waking up to the sheer number of church spires in the town of Le Puy en Velay is “very heavy”, a remark I took exception to as it had no basis in a commentary about cycling but related to religion! He does this alot. Inane chatter based on anything that comes into his head followed by that inane laugh aimed to get a reaction from his colleagues. Most times his colleagues do not join in or comment on what he says as they are all consummate professionals and expert in the discipline of cycling commentary. I generally turn over to another channel when he is commentating which I do not feel I should have to do purely because of Mr Kirby’s inappropriate comments and inane diatribes. I hope this petition succeeds in removing him from Eurosport / GCN staff. This is not a witch-hunt, it only serves to clear up the tv airwaves from a person who is toxic to our sport of cycling. There is no place for a person who openly puts down certain cyclists in live commentary & uses the Eurosport platform to preach his opinions on everything and anything that comes into his head regardless of how his comments might affect the audience. Please join this petition. Thank you.

I find his inane “humour” dull and tiresome. He loves the sound of his own voice especially when he’s being critical about anything not just cycling. I’ve just had to listen to him insult a rider during stage 8 of Criterium as “ his ears must give him an aero problem” followed by his awful chuckle.
I thoroughly enjoyed all the Eurosport Giro because I never heard his voice.
I hope his contribution (if any) to the TDF will be minimal if he has to join.

Yes, he's back!! And lined up to do the Tour, as well. Thank goodness we have ITV4 in the UK for alternative TdF coverage.
