Think you must have the 'international feed' or something. They seem to do that sometimes. In the UK, we got Hatch, Smith, Lloyd and Blythe - thank god.

I'm watching the World Championships on Eurosport. If Carlton starts just one more sentence with an "Umm," I'll be tempted to throw my remote through my TV screen. He also can't complete a sentence without a few, "umms," "errs", and "ahhs" in it. It's so unprofessional. He also thinks he's funny and isn't. Joanne is bit better, but she needs to slow her speech down, she ends up garbling.

Stage 15, Tour de France, 2023 – Crash is caused by spectator. Before the many replays, Kirby claims it was a speed bump. Why not wait to see what actually happened rather than making something up? After the many replays, Kirby claims it was a young boy (the spectator is clearly the same size as other adults) ‘getting over-enthusiastic and punching the air’. As is so often the case, utter invention: it did not look remotely like someone punching the air. It was clearly someone with a phone.

I agree about Kelly as well. Just because he was a brilliant rider doesn't make him a good commentator. I do feel he's been dragged down by Kirby over the years, and that he's notably better when with Hatch. Kirby drags the others down as well - they end up endlessly repeating what a fantastic day it's been rather than what's happening in the race now.

He likes the sound of his own voice too much and thinks his jokes are hilarious... extremely annoying to listen to

Carlton Kirby and Sean Kelly are way out of date compared to Adam Blythe, Robbie McQuewen, David Millar or Rob Hayles. They lack current knowledge and an understanding of why riders are doing what they are doing. A change is long over due. Sean Kelly just has pat phrases that he keeps on repeating. It's dreadful.

When Rob Hatch is commentating, at least he talks about what is happening in the race.

Liggett barely knows what day it is. I find the likes of Dan, Adam and Robbie pretty knowledgeable and interesting, and when Rob Hatch is commentating, at least he talks about what is happening in the race.

Just needs to go now, constant stream of drivel, lacks fundamentals of the sport, better options available, and just ruins the viewing for me. If I hear “quite frankly “ one more time…

I’m sick of hearing what red wine he likes! Stick to the cycling but I forgot, he knows very little and waffles his way out of everything.

I have lived in France for 35 years so I change to the French language when he comes on, the man drives me mad with his constant drivel.

I agree with the comments here. I turn off the sound whenever he is on. The worst is the way he moralises about the behaviour of spectators all the time and instantly blamed them for the hold up on Courchevel. GCN commentators seem generally to have a sense of great importance when apart from kelly the expert analysis is given by very average ex pros.

What amazes me is how Sean Kelly one of the bike riders who had a brilliant career can listen to the rubbish talk from Kirby for hours. Mental strength for sure. This guy doesn't speak normal language. Imagine a non native English speaker trying to understand his constant drivel that totally distracts from the enjoyment of the TDF

Listening to Kirby and the majority of his co-commentators on Eurosport only makes you realise how much Phil Liggot and Paul Sherwen are sorely missed. Maybe I’m biased but I’ve never listened to any other commentators who convey cycling to the public as well as they did. The Eurosport cycling commentary team spend more time having a laugh among themselves on air and talk like a bunch of women who’ve just met at the hairdresser’s. Idle drivel, chit chat and irrelevant garbage seems to be as high on their agenda as the cycling itself.
