Get rid of Carlton Kirby

Carlton Kirby's obsession with Remco Evanopole in La Vuelta means he is unable to provide an objective sports commentary on the race. It is unbearable to listen to & I wonder if I should continue my subscription to Eurosport if he continues

Wholeheartedly agree. Two hours talking about a roundabout in the last 3k. Rambling inaccuracies are his forte.

Yesterday in the Vuelta he said that the western face of the Tormalet faces East. This wasn’t a slip of the tongue because he repeated it when Robbie McEwen contradicted him. Amazing.

He just spoils the race for me when he’s commentating. The difference between him and the others is huge

He's not able to translate. He's reading a translation and tries to make out he's doing it himself, because he's so very insecure. Found out when he's translating ahead of what's being said! Routinely mispronounces foreign words as well. The drivel 'espoused' by people? Exactly the sort of mangling of the English language Kirby continually inflicts on us. As for your statement that he doesn't 'revel in speculation', this causes me seriously to doubt that you've actually ever listened to his commentary, because it's his favourite pastime, apart from chuckling at his own inanities.

I totally agree. On one level I feel bad to do someone out of a job, but he is just no good compared to almost all other cycling commentators.

Less than an hour and a half into Stage 13 of the Vuelta, and he's promoted his own book and his upcoming gig in Twickenham. FFS.

He knows little or nothing about the sport. And he doesn't commentate on the race - mainly because he has no idea what's happening. If you're unlikely to watch any of the grand tours on TV, then you're not really a cycling fan, are you? So, why even comment?

Kirby must go, he pollutes a beautiful sport with his bumptious ignorance and self regarding drivel.

Please can we have a commentator that actually comments on the race and knows what he is talking about.

Oh dear; what a shame. Carlton Kirby is probably the one reason I would watch any of the Grand Tours on television. Its great to learn about the country in which they take place. The real drivel is that espoused by people such as David (Mogadon) Millar(ITV4) and Orla, Dan, and Adam from GCN/ Discovery(ne Eurosport) who seem to have absolutely no idea about the circumstances under which the race takes place. And nor do they have any interest in it apart from the "road book" which says NOTHING about how the race may actually develop. Carlton Kirby has a touch of whimsy- true, but is able to translate and understands more than is let on by the likes of the current crop of wannabies who revel in speculation and very often are ever so wrong.

It is pure purgatory having to listen to him, and embarrassing too. I inwardly cringe at all his faux pas and non-funny remarks (which he seems to find hilarious). I pay a subscription to watch the cycling - surely I'm entitled to a professional standard of commentary?

My wife says he us a liability to Eurosport: ignorant, trivial and rude about the places through which the Grand Tours travel. I can't stand his laughing at his own attempts to be funny. Get him off !
