I also avoid all the races he comments on, so I miss a lot of the best racing....but I cannot abide his drivel.

Oh NO!, he's been given the Tour of the Basque Country, so I've got to listen to this drivel all week if I decide to carry on watching it. "He's just said, "it's going to be a loud race Brian". what the fxck is that all about!. Garbage of the first order!.

I used to think that Kirby was a hapless but harmless Alan Partridge type. But his first few attempts / fiascos in 2024 have shown him to be what he really is - a loathsome creep. For the last couple of years, Kirby’s jealousy towards other commentators has become increasingly obvious. He never lets his colleagues (usually former professional riders) finish a sentence, even after inviting them to speak. In 2023 and 2024 his method has been to laugh inappropriately over the top of them when they are trying to talk. Not laughing at what they are saying, or laughing at what is happening in the race (he rarely watches the racing), but just laughing to block his ‘competitor’ (in his head). Recent proof was him laughing over the top of Brian Smith during Adriatico, but stopping whenever Brian paused, only to restart laughing when Brian restarted speaking. He is dreadful. Does Eurosport not employ directors or editors to manage the quality of their output?

The best commentators let the pictures speak. He just uses a torrent of words ,don’t get me started about roundabouts

He gets into making personal comments on co-commentators, so unprofessional.

Does he think he's the funniest person on earth? Why else would he laugh at everything that comes out of his own mouth?

Mr Kirby suffers with verbal Diarrhoea, feels he has to keep talking throughout the commentary. Constantly talks about himself and the stupid illustrations he uses during commentary are infantile , add to that his silly guttural laugh, enough to make you watch the race without sound.

The art of commentary is knowing: what to say; when to say it; and when to stay quiet. Kirby fails in all three. As a result of that and his lack of cycling knowledge (see constantly getting riders wrong and making pointless predictions), Kirby simply floods the air with his stream of consciousness. If it isn’t nonsense, it’s just meaningless cliches. “THIS IS FANTASTIC!” - every, single day. I deliberately avoid any races he covers.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get rid or this ignorant imbecile. I've never known a 'commentator' in any sport spoil the event as he does. What a moron!
