Operation Ivy was formed in 1987 in Berkeley, CA, consisting of Jesse Michaels on vocals, Tim Armstrong (a.k.a. Lint) on guitar and backup vocals, Matt Freeman on bass, and Dave Mello on drums. They were one of the first bands to combine elements of hardcore punk and ska, that would soon influence many other bands in the near future. Sadly, this band was very short lived from 1987-1989, due to internal conflicts. The year is now 2014, 24 years since their break up in '89. Today, it seems that Operation Ivy is STILL listened to just as much as Rancid, maybe even more from what I've seen..even though they have said numerous times that a reunion will most likely never happen, there's nothing like a little convincing, it's worth a shot. Wouldn't you love to see your favorite ska punk band live and in person in this day in age? I sure as hell would. I've proposed this petition to get Operation Ivy to do a tour. Don't know if this petition will get shit or not, but it's worth a try. Spread the word.
