Hair colour and piercings affects pupils learning in no way whatsoever. But you know what does? Sending students home which results in them missing learning time? Haha great logic Mrs S.

Ok I completely agree with this. Mrs Smith sent 2 people home today for their hair colors and I know one of them was BLONDE. A NATURAL COLOUR. It's not fair. Students should be allowed to colour their hair and stuff because it promotes individuality. Also, this is not reflecting on a work place and preparing us for later life because I know for a fact in most work places people would not be fired for dying their hair. Not acceptable at all

I heard that someone got sent home for dying their hair a certain colour today. Completely disgusting and unprofessional. If she doesn't get sacked at least make her review her level of tolerance

I don't think by having rules on clothing and hair the teachers or mrs smith are 'exerting their power and gaining control'. I think they are doing what every school does up and down the country, enforcing simple rules that ensure we all wear the same when going to school. Everyone has problems with it but we all know school isn't exactly all about self expression. At the end of the day it's a place of learning and although I would love it if I could wear an extra two earrings or some nail varnish- I know that being without those two things doesn't stop my progress at school. Fair enough if there was a legitimate reason behind a certain banned item etc but if that was/is the case then you need to raise it with the school. And if you have an issue with the rules why not take it up with her yourself? But I don't think an online petition to fire your head teacher is the best way to go about change. Rules are often there for a reason and although it's fine to question those reasons, those are the rules at Becky high and as a student you are expected to stick to them. I'm sorry if this comes across as rude and I appreciate you are entitled to your own view but I'd suggest maybe looking at why certain rules are in place before saying that you being not allowed to dye your hair makes the school not a safe environment

She has done so much for the school good and bad. For me, the bad just trumps the good lol no hate

i am using this platform, like many others, to express how i feel and this is it. what is written is 100% true. it feels as though Mrs Smith, who I have had from the very start of my time at this school, uses her power and platform to block out all creativity, and as said before that can lead to dramatic changes of well being for a student. Especially with GCSE's she inforces that happiness is the key and as long as you try your very hardest that is enough. She does seem, though, to contradict herself as often as she says these things which only provokes the students trust in her as a headteacher but also developes worry. She works with certain staff members to inforce rules such as no more than one peircing in each lobe and one natural hair colour. But what she still, to this day since she joined, lacks is the understanding that well being and happiness doesn't just come. It can come from a lip piercing or any other way you feel necessary to express yourself. Not only this, she has cancelled other creative/academic opportunities for the school for an unknown reason, and seems to fish not needed money from the government in order to what seems like make her name look more reliable and important. She has her perks, but this head teacher is far from perfect to inforce 'happiness' and 'success' into the student body.

Also the shaving of eyebrows should not be a problem seeing as it does not effect learning in anyway, but by lowering students self confidence it can effect their learning
