I've had a few friends tell me that they can't find movies or TV shows with LGBTQ+ characters. When growing up closeted or out, it can be hard to figure out who you are, and sometimes having someone to relate to can help you through it/help you figure it out. Personally, it helped me when seeing a few shows with young LGBTQ+ people in them. It gave me confidence to not hide who I was anymore, to show that I wasn't ashamed of who I am but that I was proud to share it with others. Having more LGBTQ+ characters on tv seems only fair. This could help a lot of people around the world; not just kids but adults too.

This petition's whole purpose is to get more LGBTQ+ representation in the media and on TV. And with any luck, more LGBTQ+ characters that are main roles. This petition also works for the representation to get LGBTQ+ PEOPLE in the roles of gays, etc., instead of straight people.

I AM ABSOLUTELY BLOWN AWAY BY THE MOMENTUM WE HAVE BUILT TOGETHER!! SEEING SO MANY PEOPLE STAND BEHIND THIS VISION FOR BETTER REPRESENTATION IS BEYOND INSPIRING AND I AM SO PROUD TO BE DOING THIS WITH ALL OF YOU!!

As someone who has a parent that isn’t that supportive of me being bisexual, I believe we need some more bisexual characters too! Bi erasure is too common in the community and it would make me happy to see my sexuality on the big screen.
I just don’t want it to feel like tv shows are forcing in lgbtq people, just so they can “be there”. But beside that, I DEFINITELY support.

Representaion is so important in normalising and making people feel accepted. at the moment the community is so representation starved that we will watch a whole 10 season series just for 1 episode with a gay character played by a straight cis male.
