Although I think the idea of a R&R Hall of Fame is ridiculous and noting that they do an awful job with it as far as inductees go, there is no reason for the HoF to exist if Mountain isn't a member.

Mountain were probably the most influential band of the early 70's at producing a driving hard rock sound with extended soloing. Leslie West extended the sound of rock guitar by his use of feedback, pinched harmonics and incredible vibrato. Bands like the Who recognised this and used him on sessions.
Felix Pappalardi's works as producer for Cream and his work with the introduction of stereo drum mic'ing and use of the Mellotron were ahead of their time and recognised by people like Hendrix as being ground breaking.

Leslie had a clarity beyond his times. His playing influenced thousands of young listeners and helped moved music out of the hazy psychedlic sound into true straight up Rock.

Such a great band of historical importance. Could make guitar speak to you never mind the fact their music & lyrics were incredible. Loved them from a very young age forward!
