Dave was the go to person about blues. He was kind to all and knew so much about the different blues he always had time to those who were new to the blues genre.

Dave ‘Famous Davis’ was foremost and educator of the Blues. His passion for the blues took neophytes like myself and imparted his Love and knowledge and in turn grew my passion and Love for the music and more importantly the musicians themselves. Dave is sorely missed and I can only hope I can continue to spread his passion half as effective as he was.

I met Dave on my first trip to the Juke Joint Festival. He was relentless in promoting not just the blues but more so the artists themselves. For someone new just exploring the blues he was a wealth of information. For others who already had a grasp, many because of him, it was his stories that made it all come together. It was his passion and he had no off button. I can think of no individual more deserving of a KBA award than Dave. My only regret is that Dave won't be here to feel the appreciation. We can only hope that somehow he already knew.

I’ve known Dave for many many years. His dedication and commitment to keeping the blues alive was demonstrated daily. His work in radio, helping blues artists, and promoting blues events, as a honest respectful servant of the blues will be greatly missed in the blues community.
Please consider Dave Wright for a well deserved KBA award.

Dave was a big influence on the Prairie Crossroads Blues Society, helping us by introducing us to and bringing blues musicians to the Champaign-Urbana area. He was friends with hundreds of musicians, and seemed to especially want to promote some of the blues world's under-appreciated artists. On his blues radio show on WEFT 90.1 FM he tirelessly promoted blues festivals such as the Mississippi Valley Blues Fest, Chicago Blues Fest and his favorites, Clarksdale's Juke Joint Fest and the King Biscuit Blues Fest.

I can still remember Dave's voice on the radio talking about the Juke Joint Fest, back in the day when it was brand new. He wanted everyone to go and experience that. Not only that fest but everything to do with the blues. Every time I went to the delta, he knew all the places, no matter how small. His passion was the blues. I'd love to see him get honored by the Blues Foundation.
