I am absolutely shocked and horrified after seeing BBC Documentary about the conditions the so called rescued animals are being kept in. My husband and I went to visit Capricorn in 2009. At the time she stated she was raising money to modernise and build proper facilities. We even donated goods for her to sell at her charity shops, which were just thrown onto a heap in the yard. Looking back it all seemed very plausible, but the BBC documentary has shown things have declined badly and have worsened. She and her son should be removed ASAP. Animals kept in those conditions are normally removed from people by the RSPCA, so why are they still left there in their care?

I too have witnessed the filthy conditions. I could not even enter a cat pen to see a cat I liked for rehoming, as there was so much diarrhoea on the floor, and the litter trays were full and overflowing. These conditions are absolutely heartbreaking.

I was a volunteer for a short time here and was witness to lack of water, unclean pens and bedding , generally an unhygienic cramped environment for these already desperate animals. Please let me know if you need any more witnesses to the shambolic set up they call a rescue!

No animal should have to live like that especially after being "rescued", maybe it did get too much work to carry on looking after everything, but at least accept help from people instead of scaring them away.

This woman needs removing from the site and others should replace her who have more consideration for these poor defenceless animals.

The conditions that the animals have to put up with is shocking. Rabbits with no water, animals lying dead for days, etc.

I went to see a cat I spotted on the website 18 months ago, when I got there the feline cages were absolutely filthy, faeces all over the pen floor, with the litter trays overflowing, I even had to find a volunteer to refill the EMPTY water bowls. I know as a cat owner that these litter trays had been left to fester, not cleaned 3 times daily as stated. I can appreciate the pressure of managing a rescue centre but the animals are there because of mistreatment or bad circumstances, so should be treated as though they had been rescued not left to dwell in this kind of filth, it is just not acceptable.

Dale these questions have been answered literally hundreds of times. There are other local rescues ready to step in and take these animals. The strays should not be being taken there anyway as Sheila does not hold the council contract. They are being taken there by a corrupt dog warden running an illegal scam with Sheila. Sheila also does not do the work she spends all her time on the computer abusing these former volunteers and cyber stalking. I myself am a victim. She has had a lot of help but has forced over 70 volunteers out of there and I might inform you is on her third set of trustees this year. The others left as they could work under a regime that refuses to run things within the law and refuses countless treasurers access to the accounts I was a volunteer and I was forced out and banned for raising concerns both about animal abuse of which I was a witness and disgraceful financial mismanagement. So in answer to your question NO my opinion is NOT misguided.

As someone who has witnessed the conditions at this rescue, I can say it definitely needs new management. The whole place needs ripping down and rebuilding, the conditions are not good enough for any animal! I did not feel comfortable being a volunteer there, the mess was beyond being manageable. Also there is a sheer lack of security, anyone could just walk in there and take a dog out and not come back with it, I don't think anyone would know if you're a volunteer or not. The website is hardly updated with animals available, and when I signed up to be a volunteer it took me a good 20 minutes to even find a member of staff, even then there was a complete lack of interest and I had no training at all. It needs a complete overhaul

This woman needs help not harassment. When this place closes because of these allegations, true or otherwise, where will all of the animals go to? Are you prepared to open your own animal rescue centre for animals in need? Or why don't you get up at 6am every day to clean up cat faeces and dog sick like this woman has done for 32 years? If you are not prepared to do this, then your signature on this petition and your opinion of this woman are misguided.

How appalling, the BBC News 24 documentary revealed filthy cages with floors covered in diarrhea for days on end. Over spilling filthy litter trays not cleaned for days. Dead cats, not even noticed. Other dead animals. Animals without water. kittens with eye infections soaked in their own urine in the so called isolation unit, and kittens from same unit given out for adoption. The owner and son should be prosecuted for extreme animal cruelty and neglect to the maximum penalty the law allows and never allowed near animals again. Disgusting. Animal cruelty at its worst under the guise of animal rescue as it so often is. THE CAMERA DOES NOT LIE. we leave that to the owner who did nothing but lie. How can anyone deny what the camera revealed? Open your eyes to animal cruelty and profiteering. Well that footage is out there now, so no one can deny it. How many more animals must die hidden and unseen before those of you who support this hell wake up to the reality?

Susan I will never be ashamed of fighting for those animals. It is we who are protesting that are trying to give those animals a voice. Remember this those animals cannot speak for themselves. They cannot say I am hungry I am thirsty I am scared. We have to speak for them. If you can deny the proven facts and shut your eyes to suffering then it is you Susan who should be utterly ashamed of yourself.
