Final supporters
We have all witnessed people driving too fast in the morning and afternoon while our children are walking to or from school. We would like to have lights added to the existing school zone signs for Sycamore Creek Elem School. It has been verified through traffic studies that lights in a school zone help make the signs more visible. By signing this petition it will show the NC DOT, Sheriff's Office and NC Highway Patrol that we are standing together as a school to keep our children safe.
The signatures on this petition will be taken to the 3 agencies mentioned above to get lights on our school zone signs and hopefully get us more patrol during school zone hours.

I was watching the traffic this morning while waiting for the bus and it is just alarming how fast these cars fly past the crossing guard. I am still waiting to hear back from the sheriff office but their silence on this is honestly getting loud and I am already drafting a follow up note to them because we need those lights on the signs before something really bad happens.

No affiliation with this school but concerned for the safety of these kids due to the speeding I witness daily while driving through their school zone. Many kids also walk to and from this school, just a few feet away from cars going 50+ I believe that a flashing light is necessary to alert drivers of the 35mph posted speed limit, during school zone hours.
My children don’t go to sycamore creek , they go to TFS which that school zone also covers. It is why the school zone extends all the way to leesville and leesville. The lights would benefit both schools.
My granddaughter attends Sycamore Creek Elem School. The road needs flashing lights to help keep the children safe.
I was in contact with Captain Anderson of RPD back in April of ‘18 inquiring about flashing school signs and was told this area had not been a routine issue with speeders. They set up radars in the school zone and it didn’t come back with any alarming results. Hoping this petition will make a difference in bringing awareness to those who are putting our children in danger!
I'm always disturbed and amazed at the blatant disregard for the school zone speed limit on Leesville road by Sycamore Creek Elementary School. Law enforcement comes out every six months or so to enforce the speed limit during which time they are always very busy pulling speeding drivers over. I'd like to see flashing lights to further raise awareness of the school zone speed limit.
