Bandaoke International, one of the very few musical groups/bands that engage professionally in the act of live band karaoke, have managed to play approximately 2.000 different songs live in less than 3 years.

They have kept video records of this achievement and recently applied in Guinness World Records for a new category called "most songs played by musical group/band". Their file was rejected, but it is the reasons they were presented with by the GWR representative the band truly objects to.

At first, GWR claimed that “the record was a bit too specialized for a body of reference as general as GWR”, however GWR has put down tenths of records regarding “most songs” (a quick search on their website can verify this). Later, they advised Bandaoke International to “play all the songs at once in a marathon and break the record for the longest concert instead”, which would require almost 150 hours (more than 1 week day and night) with the certainty of permanent injuries for the 2 musicians, something literally unachievable. After this, GWR claimed that “any musical group in the world could claim they have played the same number as you”, but clearly anyone who makes a claim needs to provide evidence so this shouldn't be a reason to not put down a record in the first place. Finally, GWR made the final claim that “there are many variables including personal taste that come at play when defining what constitutes a song”, which would of course cancel the whole concept of intellectual property if it were true.
