I will no longer remain passive and on the sidelines in regards to women who have been directly affected by abuse, sexually physically assaulted who fear being disbelieved and who know that coming forward can take away their privacy, their chances to secure jobs and professions in lieu of being discredited, shamed and condemned by the news media, PR agendas and popular public figures!!! No more standing by sidelines but taking a stand and moving for change!!

Yes, I strongly endorse this petition and long for the day when "equality" means just that. Also, my thoughts go out to the men and children who have suffered and still suffer the "indignity" and feeling of betrayal that they have.

In the hours after JG's initial FB post, without knowing enough about the facts, I signed a petition that supported the rights of individuals to keep private, consensual activity among adults free from punitive action by employers. I still support that principle. But sexual predators, anywhere, are another matter. I recognize and support victims of sexual abuse in coming forward to tell their stories. More power to JG's victims.

Do not be afraid to shower light on the instances of abuse perpetrated by a tyrant. Victims will be believed. May punishment be swift and harsh.

The courts will eventually provide a final verdict on Mr. Ghomeshi's "consensual" antics, but will the courts send a clear message to abusers that we as a Canadian society will not tolerate such ugly abuse to women or men, and will make reporting of such abuses less difficult.

Countless women have been abused by those who are (or think they are) powerful. I fully support those that are strong enough to stand up in this situation and for all women who have had the strength to report any sexual abuse!
