Recently, it was brought to our attention that renovations in Tech Tower will be forcing EEO out of an office space that was promised to them by those higher up. How does this affect the student body? Allowing such an event to take place goes against the principles of this institution. With the percentage of African-American student dwindling to less than the percentage in the 1970's, we can't afford to jeopardize one of the most valuable resources, which focuses on K-12 outreach and exposure, minority/transfer admission, and financial aid -- among the many other things. The office of Engineering Education Outreach is a comfortable space where all students, not just minorities, are free to exist. This office touches lives through engineering -- before, during and after students have matriculated. Not only can student go there to take a break from Tech life, but the resources offered have helped numerous students in unimaginable ways.

As of right now, this move has been presented as a "temporary relocation". However, there has been a lot of "relocating" with vague timelines about when the new "promised" space will be completed and inhabitable. EEO cannot adequately support its students if it can't even support itself. This move may be said to be temporary while renovations are underway, but the issue at hand still fails to make sense. How could a resource so valuable to students not be worth more than a bathroom?

It is time for us, as a student body, to speak up! Please sign this petition to help make a difference, and let our voice be heard!

In no way is the College of Engineering or the Engineering Education Outreach office affiliated with this petition. This is strictly the work of Georgia Tech's student body.
