Dear all

I hope you are well,

I am writing to you to explain the situation I find myself in. From September the 1st 2023 I will no longer have permission to coach at Forest Row Lawn Tennis Club, due to no fault of my own. Forest Row Tennis club has been my main source of income over the past 6 years, a place I love to coach at helping hundreds of players with their game over the years.

Just a little background on the situation, I was asked by the Forest Row committee to put a proposal together for how I could better improve the coaching at Forest Row club. I was overjoyed by this and saw this of course as a great opportunity and sign of my recognition and dedication to the club, developing the coaching program and increasing memberships. From this hugely positive starting point, regrettably this has had a negative consequence which has resulted in firstly my proposal being denied and secondly being told I can no longer coach at the club, an upsetting outcome I didn’t think was possible. The committee mentioned it was because I didn’t have an assistant tennis coach on board with me, this is in fact not the case and throughout the year I have 2 assistants to help when needed.

As you can imagine, receiving the news that I am no longer allowed to coach at Forest Row was a huge shock after I have dedicated the past 6 years to developing the club which I have thoroughly enjoyed and want to continue doing.

Then at the AGM members and I heard that one of the key reasons I was not successful was because of money something that has never been discussed before. The committee have announced during the annual meeting that due to the upset from members “the decision may have been handled unfairly” as many members are outraged by this decision. This decision was made without consulting the members for their opinion and vote in the matter, referring about permission to coach at the club. And now here I am asking we may trigger an extraordinary general meeting by voting for me to stay coaching at the club by signing the petition attached and if possible, attend the meeting (date to be announced.) The committee have said they will revisit the situation and hopefully with your support I can continue coaching at the club.

Please can you send this link out to any members you know,

Thank you for your contiuned support,

George Ross
