Currently zoned Hillcrest and Howard students should get preference for the magnet program in these schools if they choose to participate and meet the requirements of the magnet program.

We need to allow neighborhood kids to continue to be welcomed at both Hillcrest and Howard, without having to go through the lottery system.

We moved to this Neignorhood so our 2 children could attend the magnent program at Hillcrest and walk to school. Please give our Neighborhood kids the ability to attend this local school.

my son currently attends Hillcrest and we want him to attend Howard. The walkability is one of the reasons we moved to downtown.

We moved downtown for Hillcrest and Howard. We should not be forced to pass by our neighborhood schools to drive or bus our children to a school much farther away. We want zone preference for magnet spots for all children in Lake Eola Heights and Thornton Park going forward.

I have 3 grandkids that go to Hillcrest and 1 grandkids that goes to Howard. I am also their adopted parent and I'm mad as Hell with OCPS on what they a pulling on us.

We don't have children currently, but are planning on starting a family and purchased a home in the Lake Eola Heights neighborhood in part because of its neighborhood schools. We, along with most of our neighbors, have worked incredibly hard to restore these old historic homes to help in the revitalization of the downtown area. Too be able to hear the children of Hillcrest Elementary playing outside from my window, knowing that any of my own children could lose the opportunity to attend because of this re-zoning is heartbreaking. Please don't push families out of this beloved neighborhood!

It makes no sense to shuttle my child to a school that is miles away OUTSIDE of our community when we're within walking distance of our beloved downtown schools! This is our neighborhood - let our children grow with it. It's a win-win for all of us.

Our kids deserve to be put first. We all have a close community and the school is a part of that. We have spent a lot of time and effort to restore our neighborhood houses. We live in this neighborhood so we can walk everywhere and the school is no exception.

I do not believe it makes sense for families who live a few blocks from the PUBLIC school in their neighborhood (Hillcrest) to have to drive or bus their children to another school 2 miles away!

The magnet programs have been part of what made these schools jump from D & C schools to A, but the revitalized neighborhoods and the families that took a chance on a neighborhood in flux also played a part. Please let us continue to be a part of our wonderful, walkable, local schools.
