To whom it may concern, I am speaking on behalf of my GEOG 1F91 class and we all feel that the December exam was unfair for the following reasons: • The online practice exams material was unrelated to the material that was on the actual exam. • There were questions on the exam, which were not covered in any of our study materials (Textbook, companion study site, lab reports and lecture notes). • The requirements for full marks on several questions were unrealistic given the amount of memorization required and the allotted time. • The class was told that the multiple-choice section was on material covered after the midterm only. Since we were not given the proper study material to achieve passing marks on this exam, over two hundred people failed. The class average for this exam was 44%, a failing grade. The mark was left to stand, leaving many students no choice but to drop the class so as to not lower their overall average. The purpose of our petition is to adjust the mark given on the exam as well as to raise attention to the unfair manner in which the exam was presented, so as to prevent this from happening again.
