The reason for this petition is to highlight the unfairness towards the "missing years (GSM) servicemen".  The Adens Veteran Association are trying to put right an injustice that has been served on these servicemen.

All servicemen who were on "active service" in Aden recieved a General Service Medal, except those serving between 1960-63.

This is unfair as we faced as many dangers as others on active service, both from human threat and the natural world.  With your help we can lay this travesty of justice to rest and give these servicemen the medals they are due.

I am one of many ex-servicemen who served on "active service" in Aden and it's protectorates between 1960-63.  We are the only group of service personnel who in the history of Britains military presence in Aden, were denied a General Service Medal (GSM).

We are known as "The missing years (GSM) servicemen".

The Aden Vereran Association of which I am a member, has been trying to set right this injustice.  This Labour government has flatly refused to rectify this travesty.

The dangers servicemen face in places such as Aden, do not come purely from human engagement.  Many dangers arise from the environment, natural world and the circumstances surrounding those elements.

A soldier on duty in bush country, such as the New Territories where we had the refugee sweep 1962, will face different dangers.

This could be from human adversary or from the natural world.  Jumping into a bush for cover could bring you face to face with a Cobra or Red Krate.  Both deadly.

I am asking you to award those who served on active service between 1960-63 the GSM they are entitled to.
