It's time for general supervision in Mississippi for dental hygienists. Ninety-six percent of the country's dental hygienists work under this type of supervision from a dentist. General supervision allows more preventive dental care to be provided for Mississippians, provides dental hygienists opportunities to work, and eliminates liability issues that exist. General supervision is NOT independent practice, midlevel providers, or "scope creep". It is simply allowing dental hygienists to do what they do currently while legally allowing the dentist to be off site.
