I would love to see El Caminos come back. I never had one or rode in one but I love anything from the 70's, (well most of them), esp muscle cars. I think that all car companies should bring back a lot of the 70's style that we baby boomers fell in love with. Look at the new Camaros, the Mustangs!!!, the Dodge Charger & the Dodge Challenger (wow!), I have a nephew in his 20's who would like an El Camino, he even put a model together years ago, so yes, I'm all for it myself!!

I want one with the current-gen base corvette engine, manual transmission, and modern interior with sunroof and nav system options. I've been wanting to buy one since the 2009 Pontiac ST never came to fruition.

you could build it off a small car platform/ line. make it more full efficient like a little truck should be and you would sell enough

Here in australia we drive the elcamino pickup (called commodore ute) and it is fantastic. Now GM has decided to stop making It in australia - prehaps GM could make it in US/canada when we lose it?

I know the big wigs must see a market for such a vehicle, but sometimes, you gotta step out there and be an innovator of sorts. The Germans (MB.BMW) are creating niches and the industry is following. We did that at once, and with the new innovations with Cadillac, as well as multiple vehicles already being imported via SS, Camaro, almost everything Buick, importing the Ute should be easier now. Rebadge it as a GMC/Chevy and offer the 2.0T and 3.6 v6 as lower level motor to help meet CAFE standards to justify and you'll have a winner the will sell itself and provoke others to do something in response. AND NO, IT WONT HURT SELLS OF THE COLORADO/CANYON EITHER.

My first car was and still is, a 1969 El Camio. I also have a 1959 El Camino and just finished restoring a 1966 El Camino with my dad. If GM brought the Australian built Maloo here to the U.S., you know i would be at the dealer.

The late model camaros, Mustangs & challengers have been huge hits with the 70's retro-muscle car crowd. a new ElCamino would no doubt do the same.
