I've got genderqueer friends, and they shouldn't have to hold it all day at school. It takes away from education, because it is really hard to pay attention to the American Revolution or whatever if you're trying not to piss yourself.

If you are in a public school in Massachusetts and of at east one person does not feel comfortable using a gendered bathroom then it is the law that the school needs to provide a bathroom that fits the needs of that person/people.

But you can be bullied anywhere, for any reason. Feeling comfortable comes down to a mentality. Even the most popular people are picked on. These types of movements create a more sensitive generation that can't handle criticism. If you are proud enough of your choice in lifestyle, you should be able to stand by it despite the views of others. This would only create a more segregated society in our school system by separating those who are fighting so hard for equality. We can't treat anyone any different than those around them. We must learn to cooperate with the gender you identify with, and installing a separate bathroom for those students would make that process more difficult, as well as longer than necessary.

This isn't about what you have going on down there. This is about people not feeling comfortable enough around others to trust the fact that they will support their decision on which bathroom to use and maybe even to what gender they go by. If you walked into the girls room and a transgender girl walks in just needing to pee, and that girl gets targeted and bullied, then it's an issue. People are afraid to use the bathrooms- so let's support them by creating gender neutral bathrooms to help them feel comfortable in an environment they have to be in everyday.

I disagree with this petition. Using the bathroom shouldn't be this big of an issue. If you have a penis, than you use the urinals in the boys bathroom, or even the stall if you are uncomfortable. If you have a vagina, you use the girls bathroom. Using the bathroom isn't about if you feel that you should be a guy, or you should be a girl. It's about what you have going on in your pants.

I understand that this would be a logistical hazard, but everyone deserves to feel comfortable in their schools.

This bathroom would go a long way in showing that NHS and its staff understand this community and accept it...something that has yet to happen from my experience as a parent of a child who falls into this category.

I am not a NHS student. I know quite a few former NHS student though, and some of them are gender non conforming. If they come back to the school I want my freinds to be supported as best as possible. :) I think it is a simple issue of respect.

This would be fantastic. I really hope we get enough people to sign.
