My home should be a safe space for everyone to settle for the day. Separating students by sex creates a lot of anxiety and discomfort to those who don't fit along society's expectations of gender.
While I am not interested to live on cI am content living off campus and graduating this semester, but did at one time consider living on campus. I think this change at WMU would be a positive one and benefit many students living or wanting to live on campus.
If we had GI housing then I would definitely feel a lot more comfortable on campus. Also GI housing could help make WMU a more welcoming campus for those who are LGBT.
Though I identify as straight, I support an environment in which students feel safe, comfortable with themselves and their living situation, and want to help foster an environment where all students can thrive.
As a current WMU graduate student, who is also transgender, I strongly support gender inclusive housing on WMU's campus.

Gender inclusive housing is not only helpful for those who identify as transgender*, but also for WMU's student population as a whole. Since it would make non-gender binary students more comfortable, gender-related tensions on campus would lessen and and produce visibility and more dialogue on all students' safety and comfort-levels.
