2 kids and a job loss!

It's hard to cope up with e- learning. Internet speed ,lack of separate laptop for all kids, house holds, failure to download n upload homework is a big task.

Thanks to the parents who have initiated this petition. My child studies at Gems modern Academy and I support the reduction of school fees as e learning is not same as on campus education. Hope Gems authorities will agree to our Request.

I am a nursery school teacher and am not going to be paid till August. My husband has had a 30% pay cut so even if we wanted to take the payment plan offered by GEMS how do we do that when our finances have reduced drastically till July? We have 2 children in Gems and we have never missed a payment, surely Gems can also be loyal to us and help us in times of our needs.

I have 2 children at Gems silicon oasis and th e learning it took with me 7 hrs on daily basis plus i am working from home and it is affect on my performance . I request to reduce term 3 amount as we are not taking all the benefits from the school and at the same time our salaries going to reduce also .

Fee Reduction for Term 1 2020-21 Academic year

I am an alumni of Gems school myself and hence my two kids also in gems school. Our business is getting affected badly . It should be fair for all parents to reduce the fees rather than only a few.

Rayyan Talha - FS1 D. Kindly Refund the fees for Term 3 in full. There is no point of remote learning for FS1 kids. It is a very challenging time and we are paying an extensive amount for fees.

Screen time is too much for kids. Also requesting to give discounts on schoo fees as parents need to spend a lot more time to complete daily tasks.

In reference to your letter sent to all parents on 1st April (with a misleading title) “GEMS Covid-19 Relief Package”. We as a collective number of parents (copied on this email) are writing to you to raise our concern. I know there are more parents that feel the same way and will be happy to provide you with a list upon request. First of all, we would like to applaud you and the school for being able to provide continuous education to all our children (your children) and being able to turn it around in a short space of time. As expected, there have been teething issues at the beginning but the way it was dealt with was professional and commendable. GEMS is a well-established institution not only in the UAE but globally, we are proud that our children attend the school. To be honest we were all expecting GEMS to be leading the way with adjustment of 3rd term fees in light of the current circumstances but instead GEMS is falling way behind in its actions and even receiving bad press. Most schools in the UAE have already agreed to reduced school fees as much as 50% for all pupils regardless of financial circumstances, this is also happening back in the UK (the curriculum the school follows) in regard to the 3rd term fee. They have done this not only because we are now in unchartered territory with a global pandemic situation and with many families affected, they have done this because they understand that the level of service parents signed up for when they enrolled their children has changed (not of the fault of either party). As mentioned before, we applaud the efforts Gems Wellington Primary School has taken to continue to educate our children but you will have to agree with us parents that distant learning for young children is not the same as being in school from 7:30 – 14:30 (13:30 on Thursday). Our children require constant supervision and teaching to complete their daily tasks set for them. I am sure that Gems looks to only employ teachers that are qualifie

Reduction of Term 3 fees

Fees for the third term should be reduced and re enrolment fees should be waived off.

Don't you realise it. We parents have been working half day towards this goal as well. How are you planning to reimburse each parent otherwise. Not that you expenses have remained the same. You have benefited on expense going down. You must understand the situation and make living easy for parents who trust you with their child's future. 40% have lost jobs, 30% are working on salary cuts and others who could be business owners don't have any income anymore. You should have been considerate yourself in the first place
