As a pharmacist, I can confidently say this policy is putting the state's most vulnerable patients at risk. Geisinger would be wise to take a step back, consider the patient over the profit, and revert back to a 30-day mandate with a 90-day opt-in for qualified patients.

The 90 fill is a false narrative. The PBM only cares about the 90 fill every 90 days whether the patient needs it or not. Whether the patient is taking the medication or not. Go to any senior’s home who is on a mandatory 90 day fill by the PBM, i.e. Express Scripts and the amount of prescription drugs you will find is staggering.

There is no clear rationale for the 90-day supply mandate by implemented by Geisinger. The reasons clearly outlined in the petition (patient pill burden, patient safety, reimbursement loss, etc) provide a logical argument for a detrimental effect to both patients and independent pharmacies that these patients trust. A large health-system such as Geisinger should reconsider the perspective of the community independent pharmacies that residents depend and trust with the management of their health prior to negatively impacting the well-being of PA communities through greed and ignorance.

Independent pharmacies losing money to fill certain prescriptions that people need to survive is beyond ridiculous. Insurance companies care more about putting money in their pockets than they do about actual people and it’s sick. Down with PBMs!

I'm a practicing Physician Assistant working in psychiatry. Ninety day supplies are not acceptable in the majority of the population I treat. It is a significant safety issue. It is very time consuming to call and justify why it is inappropriate for every patient who is having this mandate. Health care providers barely have enough time to care for patients these days. No one considered safety with this mandate. Greed is ruining healthcare.

As a chronic pain patient my medications are often changed due to wether they are helping or not. I see my independent pharmacist because he has given me much counseling about my medications and the best way to take them.
