This petition is to make a motion to rescind the extra $5 in union dues that we have been paying since POAM took over as our parent union in 2005. We were told it was to help create an operating budget, since they were left with a deficit. This was presented as a temporary fix just until POAM got in to the positive. It has been almost 3 years now. As of the Union meeting today (4/15/08 @ 1345 pm) we were advised byt the treasurer that this money is not going to POAM, it has/is going into the operating budget of GCDSA, which as the financial report passed out at the mtg was at $20k, which is being used for training, donations & etc. This is not our responsibility to pay for these things. Please sign this to rescind the extra $5 per month that is being payroll deducted by each member. It was also mentioned that POAM will be raising our Union Dues by $2.50, as it stands that would be $37.50 per month. ($32.50 to POAM/$5.00 to GCDSA) Signing this petition would move that the increase should come out of the $5 already being taken out. Leaving $2.50 for GCDSA, and our dues being officially changed $35 per month. PERIOD
