I go to a Christian private, girls-only high school in Tennessee, and a group of us have decided to push to form a gay-straight alliance (GSA). The problem is, where we live the community is rather conservative, and so support for the LGBT community is very small. At some high schools where I live, you can get expelled for coming out at as LGBT.

By starting this club, we can set an example in our community for acceptance, respect, and support for those who are seen as "different". Through this, we can erase stereotypes and rumors about the LGBT community, to help students gain a better understanding. We can show that you do not have to LGBT to support these causes.

Above all, we can help the girls in my high school who identify as LGBT to feel accepted by people of any sexuality.
