Memorial Park and Lions Park are valuable recreational resources in the Town of Gates. As two of the most frequently used parks in Gates, these parks provide recreational activities for thousands of people each year. For many years, the Town of Gates has been developing plans to improve these parks to update amenities and increase accessibility for residents to enjoy these greenspaces for years to come. The Town is planning to rebuild and expand restroom facilities at each park and replace outdated playground equipment with updated equipment that will increase accessibility for all kids. Repaved pathways will make walking, jogging, and hiking more enjoyable for everyone. In order to make this dream a reality, the Town of Gates is applying to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) for a grant under the Environmental Protection Fund to fund this project.
