Memorial Park and Lions Park are valuable recreational resources in the Town of Gates. As two of the most frequently used parks in Gates, these parks provide recreational activities for thousands of people each year. For many years, the Town of Gates has been developing plans to improve these parks to update amenities and increase accessibility for residents to enjoy these greenspaces for years to come. The Town is planning to rebuild and expand restroom facilities at each park and replace outdated playground equipment with updated equipment that will increase accessibility for all kids. Repaved pathways will make walking, jogging, and hiking more enjoyable for everyone. In order to make this dream a reality, the Town of Gates is applying to the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) for a grant under the Environmental Protection Fund to fund this project. By signing this petition, I indicate that I am a member of the Gates community and I support this project.

Updates

July 17, 2015

I spent the morning walking through the playgrounds and watching so many young families struggle with the outdated equipment. It is clear that our town needs these improvements to ensure every child has a safe place to play regardless of their physical abilities. I am currently finalizing our submission documents for the grant program so we can finally break ground.

Seeing this kind of momentum reminds me of all the afternoons I spent watching my own kids struggle on those rusted playground swings. We are finally gaining the traction needed to ensure every child in this town has a safe and accessible place to play.

As a NY tax payer, I would like to see some of my money returned to my community (Gates) for this worthwhile project.

The road/driveway leading to the Gates Town Park soccer field is so bumpy. It has been for years and was never fixed.

My family enjoys the fields at these neighborhood parks every summer. We would love to see playground/ restrooms be updated so that we might utilize those as well instead of having to travel other parks.

Soccer fields need a lot of work along with bathroom facilities at each site. Should have spray park like Spencerport (Pineway Ponds) and Greece have. Kids need it.

We are residents of gates but always end up in chili parks because they are nicer and have public restroom. We also love wegman road park and would really like to explore these two parks of they had bathrooms available

these parks are extremely popular, my kids played there and my grandkids now play in the same ones their parents did. Let's make sure they have a safe equipment to play with/on. Thanks in advance for your timely approval!!!

Please help update and maintain our parks. They're a wonderful asset to our community and those that live and work in it.
