We here by petition Her Majesty The Queen and The Government of Great Britain to award a Knighthood  EACH to Ray Galton and Alan Simpson. They are the inventors and pioneers of british comedy. They made the rules, they broke the rules. They have inspired an endless number of other writers such as John Sullivan (Only Fools and Horses) and Lee Mack to name just two of the thousands. They are not just writers, they are wordsmiths. Their place in the development of English culture sits firmly, and equally, alongside Charles Dickens and WIlliam Shakespeare. Television comedy would not exist in the form it does today without Ray Galton and Alan Simpson. More over, they are two of the nicest men you will ever meet - unpretentious and unassuming about their unique talent.
