I am against the moratorium and sunset of certifications. There is a shortage of qualified and certified interpeters and by halting testing, RID exacerbates the problem.

RID is a member driven organization and RID's members are the last ones considered.
RID is losing my respect and support and many others of my colleagues by the day!
Please re-consider your current plan to keep us un-informed and the last ones to know.
We should be voting on these decisions that have a major impact on our careers and our lives!

As a consumer of interpreting services, it is utmost important to me to know what is going on with the national certifying body and organization for interpreters. I am asking RID to be a true "member-driven" organization with integrity to be open and transparent with its members and consumers of services that RID certifies.

Been observing RID since 1964 - it still reeks of audism. Elitism and favorism are still in play since then. There MUST be transparency at ALL levels. The actions of RID are not up to par and shaming. It is hypocrisy how they change the system to suit their needs. Interpreters pay a lot of money and work hard to get a piece of paper. Shame on RID!

Give us members more credit - OUR funds are being mishandled -- our professional credentials are potentially on the chopping block -- our careers depend on RID. Members have a lot to offer and may have solutions if they havr the opportunity .

When the Board censors what they tell the membership they are treating us like children. We are adults and don't need to be sheltered.

I want to be a part of an organization I can trust; right now, I do not trust RID with all their secrets. It's time for true transparency not what RID claims to be putting out.

In order for organization to recognized as member driven, there must be some levels of transparency between paying members and board members.

It's common for board meetings to be open, and then the board goes into private session for confidential matters. To have the enter meeting closed off is simply not right.

Lawyers don't like Deaf Norms and it part of the problem, We need to have community wide conversation to help guide the board in making good decisions for all of us. If we understand why/how a decision was made we would support it. The sign "Transparency" really means "Open Dialogue" .

Full transparency from top to bottom within RID is essential for member-driven. We need to be able to watch board meetings. Let's work to make this happens.

I had the same concerns regarding fiscal use of member funds. How will my membership dues (which are not just a few dollars) be used and managed and where will they be going? How is the certification going to change? Why would I pay for a membership to an organization that provides no support to the new members weary of certification process but only to themselves?

I believe that "member-driven" and "representatives of the membership" needs to be taken more seriously for ALL aspects of our professional organization, in ALL facets of the "business of RID". I, as a dues-paying, volunteering, and concerned member, have just as much right to have my opinion taken into consideration as those of the elected and hired "Board" and "National Office Employees" PRIOR to any organizational decision being made which could potentially affect hundreds, thousands, or even a small minority of RID. I am asking for the opportunity to make my opinion known, and see who else may or may not agree with my opinion. I am asking for dialogue and discussion BEFORE pre-emptive action and voting occur. I am asking that the RID Board of Directors remember that Members are FIRST and FOREMOST, before anything else. Without members, the RID Board has no one to serve...except themselves.
