Camden Council finally approved our lease for the space off Abbey Road. It has been a long and draining road to get this site secured but we are ready to start building that dojo. We will keep you updated as the work begins on the floor and the facility.

The 'Future Dojo' Project

Hi there! We are Shinbudo London, a not-for-profit, BJA affiliated, community sports club dedicated to the learning of the grappling arts: judo, bjj, wrestling, and all things grappling based or related!

In June 2015 we launched a campaign for acquiring the use of a permanent and full-time training facility in London NW8, where our club is currently based.

We have identified a suitable venue off Abbey Rd, NW8, known as 'The Hive' an unused and rather derelict building belonging to Camden Council. We have applied to Camden Council for a lease to redevelop the building and transform it into a full time dojo with a permanent sprung floor. You can find more about our application on our website.

Please sign our petition to support us in our quest for our 'Future Dojo'! You can also like us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter.

Thanks for your support!

P.S. Please note that once you've signed, you may be prompted by ipetitions to make a donation. Do not feel you have to (i.e. your signature is valid even if you don't), and in any case please be aware that any donations will not go to Shinbudo, but instead to ipetitions.

We just hit one hundred signatures. It has been a long road and the silence from the council is draining but seeing this many people in our corner helps me keep going.

This would be a real asset to Camden and to the sports community. This building has laid empty and unloved for years now which is a disgrace. This is the perfect opportunity to expand sports other than football for the young people and adults in the local area and beyond. I understand that no other dedicated centre exists in Camden.

Subsidised activities which Young teens can afford are scarce. Youths in this and surrounding areas would benefit greatly from a fulltime club as is proposed.

Shinbudo provides the children of Rowley Way, an active, affordable and positive way to release energy. it also provides parent/the community the opportunity to interact and build community sprite. it would be very sad and a disadvantage to the children to see it go.

I am 46 and have been doing judo since I was 9.. If nothing else, It shall bring the old ways to the area. Please do it. And it looks like a tailor made dojo, Perfect!

This would be an excellent use of an otherwise wasted space. It will be useful for the community, both young and old alike and would breathe some life into an abandoned part of Rowley Way. I hope this can happen as soon as possible.

Sport is a vital part of everyone's life. Turning the Hive into a full time Dojo will promote better health and boost the activity rate in the park all of which Camden council is currently aiming to achieve.
