Dear Durham City Officials,
We, the undersigned members of the pickleball community in Durham, NC, are writing to express our strong support for additional funding to complete upgrades to the Piney Wood pickleball courts. As passionate pickleball players, we believe that having safe, well-maintained courts is essential to enjoying and growing the sport in our community.
We are aware that the Piney Wood pickleball courts are scheduled to be upgraded, and that new lighting has already been installed. However, we understand that the construction project has run into difficulties and requires additional funding. We urge you to prioritize this additional funding to ensure that the project can be completed.
We believe that investing in upgrades to the Piney Wood courts is a wise and important use of city funds. Improving the courts will not only benefit pickleball players but also promote a healthy and active lifestyle for all residents. Additionally, as pickleball continues to grow in popularity, it has the potential to attract visitors to our city to play in tournaments, which supports local businesses and boosts the economy.
Therefore, we urge you to prioritize the additional funding needed to complete the upgrades to the Piney Wood pickleball courts.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter. We believe that investing in the Piney Wood pickleball courts is an investment in our community's health, wellness, and vibrancy.
Sincerely,
The Undersigned Members of the Pickleball Community in Durham

Pickleball is huge in Durham. Why stop now when its almost done? Finish the job.
My husband and I love going to Piney Wood. Please fix these courts so we can actually play without tripping over cracks.
I play here every weekend and its getting way too crowded. We need more space and finished courts badly!
So many people are using these courts now. It keeps everyone active and outside. Seems like a no-brainer to finish the funding.
The courts are a mess right now and weve been waiting forever for these upgrades. Just get it done already.
