We, the undersigned, are concerned about the effects of climate change here in Bend. The extreme snow event of this past winter is just one example of the cost of climate change to business and homeowners, as well as to the city. The costs will only rise as temperatures do, increasing the demand for water, fire protection, and so on.

Responsible leadership requires action to mitigate the current and impending risks and damages from climate change. We commend the Bend City Council for passing the Climate Change Resolution last year, and we call on you to fund the resolution. In doing so, you would join cities around the world in acknowledging the part municipal government has to play in this vital effort.
